PKM Frontline Partners at Work During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Coronavirus cases continue to rise in Uganda, and the country is still on lockdown through May 19. The government directed all mass gatherings to stop and all churches and schools to close. A curfew is in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. All public and private transportation has been suspended and nonessential businesses are closed.
The PKM campus is closed and all related group activities have been discontinued. Our school nurse and key volunteers are visiting students’ homes when necessary to deliver basic needs and medical supplies. The nurse and volunteers are following the national Uganda guidelines in dealing with the virus. Twenty-one (21) new Uganda cases were discovered today that brings the country’s total number of cases to 248 with active cases rising daily. The country’s future is still unknown like so many others. The good news is that Uganda has not reported any deaths and our PKM students and their families in the Aduku community still remain safe from this deadly virus.
As mentioned in my previous update on the website, while the campus is temporarily closed, expenses to support the students have not stopped. Your monthly support is vital in this season of uncertainty. PKM is still providing funds for their 350 ECD and Primary School students, 18 teachers and 50 high school students. As mentioned earlier, staff and volunteers are delivering medical supplies, hygiene kits, food, water and other needed resources to the students and their caregivers, mostly families, during the crisis.
Please consider a donation NOW to help during this critical time and plan on participating in our virtual event to be announced soon. Jeremy Case, our virtual event chair, and his committee are working hard to provide us with a fun and memorable event to help PKM meet our 2020 financial obligations.

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW:

1. Donate on the petrakids.org website or send a check to PO Box 700951, Tulsa OK 74170.
2. Renew your current sponsorship of a student or begin a new sponsorship on the website under Sponsor A Child”.

A CALL FOR PRAYER

COVID-19 has continued to affect all of us in ways unimaginable, we ask that you remain in prayers with us for the children, families, church partners, school employees and our dear sponsors and donors.

Please continue praying for:

  • Protection from the virus for all our PKM children and their extended families.
  • Health and safety for all of our local community partners in Uganda, as well as staff and volunteers at the PKM – School Aduku and partner school – Skyland High School – Lira.
  • PKM Sponsors/Donors, the Board and their families who have been impacted by the virus.
  • Children longing for a sponsor to be encouraged, loved and cared for during this wait.
God bless you for your care and concern for His children living in extreme poverty. And thank you for keeping them in your prayers.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
